Brenda’s French Soul Food in San Francisco was the perfect addition to our trip. When you enter, you’ll be greeted by the friendly staff and instructed to write your name on the chalkboard if you hadn’t already. They were steady for New Year’s Day lunchtime so booking a table in advance is recommended. We didn’t wait long going for noon, maybe 15 minutes. The plethora of menu options was great! The food came out quick and exactly as ordered. We thoroughly enjoyed it!
Phenomenal, totally authentic New Orleans style cuisine for what you would pay at Denny’s. A shrimp and cheese grits as good as the one I had earlier this year in the actual French Quarter of New Orleans, Community Coffee, and beignets! It was very busy but dinging service a star for not refilling coffee before being asked.
An extremely popular brunch spot with an eclectic menu. We tried a bit of everything with my boyfriend going for one of the sampler trays with fish and sides - he enjoyed most of it - while I tried the onion soup (very good) and cauliflower (saved by the sauce, imo). We would have liked to have tried a single regular beignet but they only come in flights. So we got a single ube beignet instead - very unusual! Definitely make a reservation to avoid the weekend crowd. This place gets rammed and seating inside is pretty tight.
Deliciousness. The fried chicken with the biscuit is a must try. Finish your meal off with one or several flavors of beignet they offer - you won't be disappointed Do reserve a table as the wait can be up to an hour or so depending on the crowd and size of the group
We had no idea Brendas would be open on Christmas Day. We are so glad they were. I was looking for places to eat, as we were only in the Bay area for 3 days. We didn't have a reservation, but the staff was very kind and had us put our name on a chalkboard. The wait was less than 20 mins. The menu was a holiday menu, which was disappointing at first because I was hoping for something on their regular menu. I wanted to try something I normally wouldn't order, so I choose the Catfish and grits and my husband ordered the Blackened Prime Rib. My husband said it's the best prime rib he's ever had and my Catfish and grits was SO delicious. I had to order a cream biscuit to go with my order. It was flaky and a good complement. I'm so glad we found it and ate there. Do yourself a favor and get there! You'll be glad you did.
